As a leading content provider, Google has always believed in enabling consumers get easy access to internet which can play a pivotal role in improving their lives. As a platform, it has the potential to transform the way millions of Indians access information on internet. But the percentage of Indians accessing the internet is still low, especially those accessing the internet in regional languages.
The fact is that of the 400 million Hindi readers in our country, only 1 per cent of the internet queries are in Hindi. There is a huge gap between English content and Hindi content online. This is primarily due to poor quality of Hindi search results. With over 230 million internet users 32 million users are Hindi readers. This gap is also one of the primary reasons why first time internet users are nervous about getting online.
To address this gap and also enable the Hindi reading populace to access its Search feature, Google has unveiled a high-decibel integrated campaign by Lowe Lintas Delhi. Through the campaign, Google believes that access to internet can help millions of people to improve their lives.
